Harshan Ramadass holds a modest lead over fellow incumbent councillor Kyle Hamilton in this two-candidate race to replace outgoing Mayor Nic Milligan. Both candidates bring recent council experience and platforms centered on aging infrastructure such as wastewater systems, housing affordability to retain local workers, economic diversification, and recreation priorities. The October 6 all-candidates forum hosted by the Fernie Chamber of Commerce provided the main public comparison of their records and approaches before advance voting opened. With general voting set for October 17, the tight implied probabilities reflect limited differentiation to date and the standard dynamics of a small-community municipal contest where local familiarity and turnout will determine the outcome.
