**Sam LaPorta has opened the 2026 season with strong volume and scoring production for the Detroit Lions, hauling in 27 catches for 316 yards and three receiving touchdowns through five games while operating as a primary red-zone option alongside quarterback Jared Goff.** The athletic tight end has posted multiple 80-plus yard outings recently, including a 38-yard score in Week 5 against Arizona, building on his established role after recovering from 2025 back surgery that limited him to nine games. Detroit’s high-powered offense, featuring Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Jameson Williams, creates consistent scoring opportunities, though target competition and a challenging schedule ahead will shape his touchdown total over the remaining weeks. LaPorta’s full workload and chemistry with Goff position him for continued involvement in the passing game.
